Blizzard has revealed the upcoming character of Overwatch yesterday. This new character, Echo, has been built by Dr. Mina Liao. Today, the character has become a playable one on the Overwatch, and Blizzard has revealed more about the history, and her special abilities in this game.
The game director, named Jeff Kaplan said that the new character is very special for them and their player have known about her. The character was first seen in the Overwatch 2 cinematic which was released previous year. But, Jeff Kaplan said that she had appeared a long time ago, and players had seen Echo in some earlier versions of the artwork for the game. She was emphasized in the Reunion cinematic, where McCree set her free from Deadlock Gang.
Kaplan also presented more about Liao, who is a founding member of the Overwatch. She had appeared to the group of Omnica Corporation, and the company is responsible for making the Omnics. After the finishing of Omnic Crisis, she had resumed her work to make “adaptive learning robot” which could adjust specialized roles.
This work gave birth the the rise of Echo, but when Liao was killed on her laboratory, the team shut down the entire project and kept Echo into cold storage. After that, she was freed unintentionally when a train was hijacked by Deadlock Gang. The train was delivering her to a newer facility. It led to her dramatic rescue by McCree, along with her decision to join Overwatch team.
The primary attack of Echo is Tri-shot. It fires three shots in a triangular pattern. Also she can alt-fire sticky bombs which will have a delayed detonation. Impressively, she can fly freely and can glide while falling from a higher place. It gets the similar damage boost against the barriers which are less than their half health.
