You might have heard about the announcement from OnePlus that they will be present at this year’s CES for the first time in their history. Well, we also knew that this was to unveil their latest innovation in the smartphone industry which was termed as ‘OnePlus: Concept One’. Now, we are here to tell you that the company did unveil their first concept phone in the industry which is to show that the company is also thinking about innovation and isn’t just making smartphones for the fun of it.
What we get to see from the ‘OnePlus: Concept One’ is a phone which has a cool trick up its sleeve to hide the cameras from its back. Basically, GSMArena reveals that there is an electrochromic glass placed at the back of this device just above the camera sensors. This glass is a colour-shifting one which means you can make it look like normal glass but it can also be opaque in a matter of seconds. Therefore, if you want to hide the cameras of your device then you can do so. While we know that you would question the existence of such an innovation at the moment, it can be important as we have more image sensors fitted at the back of our devices down the line.
On the other hand, the other way of looking at this is you get a smartphone which has a pop-up selfie camera which is hidden inside the frame as well as a rear camera setup which is also hidden inside the glass. Therefore, you see all glass with a display on the front and nothing on the back which gives a great aesthetic look to your device. If this is what OnePlus thinks is the future of our smartphones, we are pleased to say that we like where this is going.
